Shania Twain Gets Creative On Caribbean Vacation

By: Margy Holland

Shania Twain has updated fans with a new letter on her website. She is currently thawing out in the Caribbean after a cold holiday stay in Canada, and the warm weather is doing wonders for her songwriting. Shania says, "The sunny weather gets me into writing mode. Many of the songs from The Woman In Me and Come On Over were written in the tropics so it's a good place for me to be creative."

She also reflects on her past month or so, talking about her Olympic torch run, or walk, as the case may have been. She said, "I was worried about the length of the run as I didn't want to embarrass myself by arriving at the cauldron out of breath ... When (son) Eja saw me after the run, he said, 'Mom, it is called an Olympic torch run because you are supposed to RUN, not WALK! 'The temperatures were pretty low so running the whole way would probably have, ironically, kept me warmer. In any case, it was an awesome 300 meters and I will cherish the honor forever."

Shania also posted a nearly three minute video of her singing songs by the fire with one of her cousins. The footage was taken by Frederic Thiebaud, her boyfriend and the ex-husband of her one-time best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who was having an affair with Shania's then husband, Mutt Lange.
