Snowpack Low
The snowpack which feeds the Duteau Creek system is currently 38 percent below normal for this time of year, according to figures from Greater Vernon Water. Manager Al Cotsworth has expressed some concern while stressing there is still time for more precipitation during the winter months.
A low snowpack in the hills above Vernon has left Greater Vernon Water warning that Duteau Creek customers could face very early water restrictions.
Cotsworth says the addition of 12-hundred homes on the Duteau supply following the contamination of the Antwerp Springs source is forcing staff to consider switching some areas off Duteau later this year.
While a boil water continues for homes in the Lavington area, Cotsworth says a meeting will be held with Interior Health Monday to see if that advisory can be lifted.
