Not to be confused with their debut album, which shares the same title, CEMA Special Markets' The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is a budget-priced overview of the group's late-'60s and early-'70s recordings for Liberty and United Artists. Quite a few of their charting pop hits are here -- "Buy for Me the Rain," "House at Pooh Corner, " "Some of Shelly's Blues, " "Battle of New Orleans" and "Mr. Bojangles" -- along with some fine album tracks, which makes it a nice bargain for budget-minded casual fans.
