Carnival Gets Us Thru Winter

I still remember moving to Vernon and 3 months later I couldn't believe people celebrated winter for 10 days!  And a parade - in winter - that seemed a little crazy to me.  Vernon Winter Carnival Executive Director, Diana Williamson told me yesterday the parade is always a highlight and everyone is really getting into the Super Hero theme so we'll see some great costumes and floats.  For many years I did the parade commentary for Shaw Cable and while you'll need to dress warmly, I do remember a year it was more than minus 20 and holding onto a metal microphone was brutal.  I was so glad half way thru when someone showed up with hot chocolate for us.  Our high tomorrow is Minus 9.

There are many free family events, so make sure you check out the website or brochure and plan how you'll celebrate during winter carnival.

Starving for $$ Wrong

I PVR's the final episode of The Biggest Looser and was shocked when Rachel walked out.  She looked fabulous and healthy on make-over week, but took it way too far.

She weighed 260 pounds when she started on the show, but lost 60% of her weight and is now 105, but she's only 5-4.  Weight Watchers website says for her height she should weigh between 117 and 146.  I think she looked anorexic.  Did she lose it for the $250,000 or is she now gone from an eating addiction to an exercise or diet addiction - either way I can't wait to hear what the network has to say about it.  Jillian and Bob certainly distanced themselves from it yesterday, but kind of left Dolvett, the other trainer out there.  He finally commented saying, "Rachel's health is and always has been my main concern and her journey to good health ...

Disappointing game and not as many winning commercials

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, but for all the hype - the game was brutal. The national - (not world) championship shouldn't end 43-8.  And I went to a party where I thought there would be the US commercials and there weren't.  There were some, but most of the US commercials had Canadian ones dubbed over.  Apparently the #1 add was the Budweiser Puppy and horses one, which was very cute, but my favourite was the Cheerios commercial.  If you missed it, the Dad is tell his little girl about how their family of 3 is going to be 4 (using Cheerios of course). But she's not that happy and decides it is the perfect time to negotiate a puppy.  Love it a lot.  Here's the link if you haven't seen it.

Have a great day,
